Information for Patients

Sedation is a medical procedure involving the administration of drugs which are used to relax a patient, generally to make a medical or diagnostic procedure easier or better tolerated.

I am a Specialist Anaesthetist (a trained doctor who has focussed on anaesthetics) who provides intravenous sedation for patients so that they can undergo unpleasant or uncomfortable procedures without un-necessary pain or distress.

Patients receiving intravenous sedation are usually awake and vaguely aware of what is happening to them, but are not distressed. It is important that patients are fully informed of the risks and benefits of sedation and this will be discussed prior to any service being provided.

If you are interested in having sedation for a procedure the first step is to contact your doctor or dentist, discuss it with them, and ask them to contact me here or email [email protected].
